WhatsApp already offers some media editing tools, including the ability to add stickers and crop photos. Meta, a Meta-owned messaging platform, plans to add more functionality to its toolbox by introducing an image blur feature. This beta feature is currently in development.

WhatsApp’s Image Blur Tool for Testing

WABetaInfo has reported that WhatsApp is testing its image blur tool in beta form of its Desktop client. The Blur tool allows users to blur an image or part of an image before they send it to someone.

The feature is demonstrated in action in a shared screenshot. You can choose to blur or select the part of the media to blur when you send an image or video. This option will be available alongside existing options such as crop, stickers, markup and more.

Take a look at this screenshot to see how it looks. This new feature allows users to securely send images or videos by hiding sensitive information.

This feature doesn’t require that users use third-party editing software before sending the image or video. Further, WhatsApp for Desktop beta users will be able to send a photo to test the new Blur tool. It is currently only available to beta users. If you don’t have it, wait for an update. It is not yet available for general users.

It was also tested earlier for Android users, so there are good chances that it will soon be available for stable Android, iOS, and desktop users. We will keep you informed when this happens. Keep checking Beebom.com to get more updates on WhatsApp.
