In response to the rising popularity of ChatGPT, Google has launched Bard, a collaborative AI tool. More recently, Google has released an updated version of its chatbot, aiming to compete with or even surpass OpenAI’s ChatGPT.

What Is Gemini?

Gemini, Google’s latest and most powerful large language model, showcases advanced multimodal capabilities. The AI tool comes in three variants – Gemini Nano, Gemini Pro, and the upcoming Gemini Ultra – each tailored to meet different user needs. Compared to its predecessor, Gemini AI exhibits greater power and versatility, excelling in handling multimedia formats such as text, images, video, audio, and code.

Gemini vs ChatGPT

Before we proceed with comparing Gemini and ChatGPT, it’s crucial to highlight that Gemini Pro, the intermediate variant known for its advanced text-based capabilities, it has been incorporated into Google Bard. This integration aims to enhance the accuracy and quality of responses.

The current iteration of Bard is similar to ChatGPT, which is based on the GPT-3.5 model. However, it’s worth noting that the predecessor of the more advanced ChatGPT Plus variant is based on the GPT-4 model.

Launch Date

In November 2022, OpenAI, with significant funding from Microsoft, launched public access to ChatGPT, entering into competition with Google and others in the field of generative AI. Just over a year later, in December 2023, Google released the Gemini in 13 December for the public.

GEMINI PRO VS CHATGPT-3.5

Language: In a test that measures how well AI understands different topics, Gemini Pro scored 79.13%, while GPT-3.5 scored 70%. This makes Gemini Pro the first model to perform better than human experts in this test.

Arithmetic Reasoning: In a test that checks how well AI can solve math problems, Gemini Pro scored 86.5%, while GPT-3.5 scored 57.1%. This shows that Gemini Pro is much better at solving math problems than GPT-3.5.

Code Generation: In a test that checks how well AI can write computer code, Gemini Pro scored 67.7%, while GPT-3.5 scored 48.1%. The only area where GPT-3.5 did better than Gemini Pro was in math problems. In that category, GPT-3.5 scored 34.1% while Gemini Pro scored slightly lower at 32.6%.
